Feel the sand between your toes

Our local coastline is known for its sandy coves and secluded beaches. Our luxury holiday cottages beside the sea are ideal for exploring this stretch of coastline. Here are a few of our favourite Looe beaches for rock pooling, swimming, building sand castles and walking the dog…

Talland Bay Beach

Discover two Looe beaches in one package at this sheltered bay, which is just a short walk from our luxury holiday cottages. At high tide, Talland Bay’s two coves are separated by a rocky outcrop. Low tide reveals its fascinating rock pools – perfect for keeping the kids entertained while you relax on the beach. There’s a small cafe on the shore, which serves drinks, snacks and light lunches. Crystal-clear waters make this an ideal spot for swimming, snorkelling and kayaking. Fishing off the rocks is another popular pastime, while scuba divers like to visit the old boiler from the French trawler Marguerite, which was shipwrecked off Talland in 1922.

East Looe Beach

With golden sands lapped by gentle waves, this is one of the most family-friendly Looe beaches. Its waters are protected by the Banjo Pier, so named because it looks like a banjo when viewed from above. This makes it popular with swimmers and paddlers. Pack swimwear, buckets and spades, and some sunscreen to enjoy a classic beach day with all the amenities of Looe’s old town close by. Dogs are not allowed on this beach.

Hannafore Beach

This single stretch to the west of the town is one of our favourite dog-walking spots and is also quieter than some other Looe beaches, even at peak holiday season. Clamber over the rocks, looking out for star fish, crabs and prawns in the many rock pools, then grab an ice cream from the nearby kiosk and enjoy the view.

Seaton Beach

Just a short drive from Talland, Seaton Beach sits at the mouth of the River Seaton in a wooded valley and offers a wide stretch of sand and shingle. With level access, parking nearby and year-round dog-friendly status, it’s ideal for families, walkers and those seeking a quieter seaside experience.
