What’s Happening This August In Cornwall?

Looe Carnival Week

When: 1st to the 3rd of August
Where: Throughout Looe

Starting at the end of July and carrying on into the beginning of August,  Looe Carnival Week is fun for all ages. On the 1st of August, you and your loved ones can enjoy a musical evening featuring local acts, plus other festivities before the final Grand Carnival Procession. St Agnes Carnival 2024

When: 3rd of August
Where: St Agnes Village

Starting at 5:00 pm, the St Agnes Carnival promises to be an amazing evening filled with vibrant festivities. This lively event features a colourful parade, live music, and an array of food stalls offering local treats. You can enjoy a variety of entertainment, from traditional performances to modern attractions, creating a joyful atmosphere that celebrates the community and the village’s history.

Falmouth Week

When: 5th to the 14th of August
Where: Various Venues Throughout Falmouth

A major attraction for both locals and visitors, Falmouth Week originated as a local sailing regatta as far back as 1837. The event has since grown into a lively celebration in the picturesque seaside town, now being filled with family-friendly activities on The Moor, such as a traditional hand-turned-carousel and an eclectic market. 

Evenings are just as vibrant, with themed nights like the popular 80s and 00s parties, RNLI Fun Day, and a festive marching carnival, offering something for everyone to enjoy.

Boardmasters

When: 9th to the 13th of August
Where: Newquay

Spanning over five days, Boardmasters this year has a stacked lineup of huge artists and bands. Friday’s lineup includes Chase & Status, Courteeners, Bicep, Chroma and Tom Odell. With Saturday having Sam Fender as the headliner along with Becky Hill, Nia Archives and Declan Mckenna among the other acts. Sunday tops it all off with Stromzy, The Streets, Maise Peters and many more.

Cornwall Tattoo Convention

When: 19th to the 20th of August
Where: Royal Cornwall Showground

The Cornwall Tattoo Convention celebrates art, music and alternative performing arts. There will be tattoo artists there on the day if you fancy some ink, barbers for those who want a trim and various catering and traders for you to browse their wares. The convention has free parking and plenty of other forms of entertainment such as live music for you to enjoy.

The Great Looe River Duck Race

When: 24th August
Where: Looe River

This annual event enters 5000 ducks into the water at Looe Bridge, then lets them float down just up from RNLI Station. Depending on where each duck is placed, the person who entered it can get various prizes. First place gets £1000, 2nd gets £200, 3rd gets £100 and 4th gets £50. When visiting us this August, enter the Great Looe River Duck Race or simply watch the excitement from the sidelines.

Tunes In The Park

When: 23rd to the 25th of August
Where: Port Eliot Estate

Yet another festival with huge artists, Tunes In The Park has various music and comedy acts along with other activities to do with your friends or family. The lineup this year includes Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Mcfly, Paloma Faith and Busted spanning over 4 days. Comedy acts such as Frankie Boyle, Al Murray and Russell Howard will also be bringing laughs throughout the days, so what’s not to love? Tickets are still available online.

Cornwall Folk Festival

When: 22nd to the 26th of August
Where: Wadebridge

The Cornwall Folk Festival brings top local, regional, national, and international artists to the town of Wadebridge each August Bank Holiday weekend. Established in 1973, the festival celebrated its 50th outing last year. Utilising existing venues within walking distance, the festival features the outdoor FAR Stage from Saturday to Monday, offering a diverse lineup of acts from Cornwall and the Southwest.
